Red Dog Project | Zinc-Lead-Silver
Assisted in selection of joint venture partners and in preparation of the business plan for the Red Dog project in Alaska. Assisted in conceptual arrangement of the mine and plant and in the selection of road route. Continued to advise NANA Regional Corporation at the Red Dog management committee meetings until 1992. This mine is now the world's largest zinc producer.

Harvard Mine Jamestown | Gold
Semi annual audit of gold ore produced by Sonora Gold from sulfide ores in the Harvard mine in Jamestown, California. Semi-annual detailed review of mining and milling operations in Jamestown, California: of truck transport of concentrates to the cyanidation extraction plant near Yerington, Nevada, and the cyanidation extraction mill. Ore reserve review and check on metallurgical performance of the flotation concentrator and cyanidation plant. Starting in 1979, advised owner in negotiating the development agreement for the property and then provide an annual review of progress until production commenced in 1987. This mine produced 100,000 ounces of gold per year when it was in operation.

Borealis Mine | Gold-Silver

Major services, including lease administration, were provide for owners of the Borealis Mine Royalty interest. Performed the conceptual geological analysis which defined the area of influence within which most of the ore has been found to date and assisted with the negotiations which led to leasing of the property. Houston International Minerals Corporation for development. Provided regular reports to the owner and conducted periodic review of the operation on behalf of the owners. Production from this mine varied between 40,000 and 80,000 ounces per year until it was closed in 1990.

Northumberland | Gold-Silver
Extensive services were provided to Cyprus Mines Corporation/AMOCO Minerals on the Northumberland project from inception until it was sold in 1985. Services provided in these major categories:

Engineering: Ore reserve estimation and mine planning was done on an annual basis from 1979 through 1985 when the mine was sold. Detailed drawings were prepared for the process plant and site engineering. Construction supervision was provided for the crusher site, plant site and leach pads. Designed the 9.5 mile haul road, wrote the construction bid documents and supervised construction. This was a $20 million project and was the third major heap leach operation built in Nevada.

Metallurgy: Performed recovery studies to determine recovery variability from different parts of the deposit. Assisted with grade control in the mine and quality control in the assay lab. Assisted with the establishment of metallurgical balance procedures for the recovery plant. Performed a special study on silver recovery using sulfide precipitation as a recovery method.

Development: Managed the continuing drilling program for the mine, provided pit mapping services on an annual basis, and ran the geological exploration program. On the property.

Masonic Gold Project | Gold-Silver
Prepared a technical report and preliminary feasibility study for the Anglo Canadian Mining Corporation on the Masonic gold project in California. Services included: a confirmation/step-out drilling program, preparation of a geological and mineable reserve estimate; review of all available metallurgical records and set up of a conceptual flow sheet; preliminary capital and operating costs estimates; developed schedule and construction budget. Both heap leaching and conventional milling were evaluated for this project.

Gooseberry Mine | Silver- Gold

Performed an operations audit, cost center analysis, metallurgical balance study and prepared a cost reduction and expansion plan for Gooseberry Mine on behalf of Asamera Oil Company. The plan that was developed was implemented by Asamera. Performed ore reserve audits for the mine in 1981, 1982 and 1983. The operating plan developed by WHITNEY & WHITNEY, INC. served as the basis for a $15 million financing agreement for the mine in 1983.

Buckhorn Project | Silver-Gold
Prepared the final feasibility study of the Cominco American Buckhorn project. Assembled previously generated data in a final report, prepared capital and operating cost estimates; a construction budget and assisted in the preparation of economic analyses. WHITNEY & WHITNEY, INC. presented its report and estimates to the Cominco Ltd. Board of Directors and senior staff. The project was authorized with a $12 million budget and was constructed within budget.

Engineering: Prepared the site layout plan, final leach pad design, pregnant solution pond design, barren solution pond design, water supply, fuel supply, solution distribution system, assay lab, maintenance shop, refinery and office building designs. Prepared the study for geological and mineable reserves and mining schedule of ore, low grade ore and waste. Completed final engineering for waste storage, low grade storage and haul road. Supervised construction of leach pads, ponds and assay lab. Acted as purchasing and receiving agent for the owner. Supervised construction of the refinery.

Metallurgy: Supervised metallurgical testing program that led to the successful development of the agglomeration/heap leaching flow sheet for ore with more than 90 percent clay content. Developed the flow sheet, including definition of leach cycles, and recovery curves to be used for economic planning.

Development: Defined and managed a program of confirmation and condemnation drilling. Complied and checked previous drill data.

Virginia City | Silver-Gold

Performed various engineering and geological services for United Mining Corporation at Virginia City, Nevada. Services included development of an operations start-up plan, making an inventory of all available reserve materials and a mill feed sequencing schedule. Developed and supervised a "wild cat" drilling program designed to find near surface, higher grade material to provide mill feed. One area of high grade mineralization was identified. The operations start-up plan was one of the documents used by UMC to make the reverse take-over with Silver Strike Resources of Vancouver and it was also used to obtain NASDAQ listing for Silver Strike/UMC in the U.S.

Designed the leach pad and pregnant, barren, and runoff ponds for the Adelaide Crown project, Nevada, for Icarus Exploration Company. This project has been successfully brought into production.

Carlin Trend Gold Mines | Gold
Estimated the electric-power requirements for large gold mines being developed by American Barrick and Newmont. Open pit and underground operations were considered along with processing plants. Study was done for Sierra Pacific Power Company.

Aurora Mining District | Gold
On-site investigation covering geology, ore reserves, and the technical and economic feasibility of a proposed open-pit gold project in the Aurora mining district, Nevada, for Minerex Resources Ltd. Assisted with negotiations with adjoining land owner to expand the operations. Provided expert witness services on behalf of the operator in contract dispute.

Placer Operations | Gold
Prepared complete feasibility studies for Northwest Exploration Company on three placer mining operations in Alaska. Each operation was in a different environment requiring different mining plans and methods. Prepared capital and operating cost estimates for each mine, then completed economic analyses for each project and the three projects combined. Northwest Exploration Company was the second largest gold producer in Alaska in 1984 and has since successfully expanded its operations.

Relief Canyon | Gold
Prepared the ore reserve study, mine plan and preliminary operating and capital cost estimate of Lacana Mining Corporation's Relief Canyon project. The WHITNEY & WHITNEY, INC. capital cost estimate and construction schedule were used for project control during construction which was completed in 1984. The project was completed within the estimated budget.

Prepared a capital and operating cost estimate for Siskon Corporation on a proposed gold mining/milling operation near Aurora, Nevada. this property was subsequently put into production by Nevada Goldfields Corporation.

Thunder Mountain | Gold

Prepared the preliminary feasibility report of the Thunder Mountain project for Coeur d'Alene Mines Corporation. This report was used for a $20 million stock offering which was successfully completed that year. Performed feasibility study audit for CDA Mines Corporation on the same project in April-May of 1984. This property was successfully put into production.

Potosi | Silver
Assisted in purchase, disassembling, packing and shipping of Merrill Crowe Circuit refining equipment and certain industrial equipment from United Mining Corporation's mill in Virginia City, Nevada to Potosi, Bolivia, for installation at COMSUR's silver heap leaching operation at Potosi. WHITNEY & WHITNEY, INC. performed all necessary functions including submittal of engineering drawings and equipment procurement. the equipment was successfully installed by the operator and has been operating since mid-year 1988.

Issaquah Quarry | Sand and Gravel
Completed the drilling program and geological mapping at the Issaquah, Washington, sand and gravel property of Lakeside Sand and Gravel Company. Prepared technical analysis to justify relocating crushing and screening plant. Prepared detailed capital and operating cost estimates for reorganized plant, engineering drawings and relocation and construction budget. The project was completed by the client under budget and within schedule.

Mineral valuation of Ranch Arroyo Seco, Ione, California. Determined the net present value of the owner's interest in mineral commodities being produced from the ranch. In prior years, assisted with lease negotiations for production of clay materials and lignite.
